Engineering and manufacturing rugged electrical interconnect solutions for demanding applications where performance, reliability and responsiveness matter.

About Rampart

Engineering
is in our DNA.

Rampart Products was founded with a clear purpose: provide exceptional customer service, responsive engineering and reasonable delivery times for customers requiring rugged electrical interconnect solutions.

Our team brings decades of engineering and manufacturing experience across harsh-environment applications, from downhole drilling and subsea equipment to highly engineered connector systems, electronics packaging and advanced manufacturing processes.

Today, Rampart brings engineering, manufacturing, quality and commercial operations together under one roof in Houston, Texas, allowing our teams to collaborate closely from initial concept through production.

Experience + Innovation

Designed by people who understand the environment.

Rampart’s experience spans drilling tool mechanical engineering, subsea systems, electronics packaging, ruggedized interconnects, manufacturing automation and high-pressure connector technology.

That breadth of experience allows our engineering team to approach each application from the system level rather than simply supplying a component.

Ed Beshoory, President of Rampart Products

Ed Beshoory

President

Ed, a Rampart co-founder, has focused on drilling tool mechanical engineering since graduating from Texas A&M. His career began in 1990 with Smith International developing Dyna-Drill mud motors.

Moving to startup BICO Drilling Tools in 1992, Ed developed two generations of mud-lubed motor designs that consistently outperformed oil-sealed bearing packs under harsh conditions. He also worked on an instrumented mud motor, a rotary steerable system and specialized drilling tools for river crossings.

In 2003, Ed formed Oilwell Solutions to develop a low-cost rotary steerable system. He subsequently consulted on projects ranging from MWD/LWD and wellbore cleanout tools to surface pressure-control equipment.

Ed remains President of Oilwell Solutions, which offers a line of EM-MWD gap subs.

Sean Carter, Vice President Business Development at Rampart Products

Sean Carter

Vice President, Business Development

Sean, a Rampart co-founder, is a skilled mechanical designer specializing in downhole drilling tools and electronics packaging for harsh-environment applications.

In 1992, Sean joined BICO Drilling Tools, where he worked with Ed Beshoory as part of a team that created a new, easy-to-maintain mud-lubed motor design containing features still in use today.

Sean later worked with Sensorwise, GE-Tensor and the U.S. Navy at Applied Research Laboratories at The University of Texas, developing extensive experience packaging electronics for severe-service applications including MWD and LWD systems and autonomous underwater vehicles.

In 2006, Sean returned to Houston and partnered with Ed at Oilwell Solutions.

Michael Czuppon, Engineering Manager at Rampart Products

Michael Czuppon

Engineering Manager

Michael, a Rampart co-founder, served in the U.S. Navy before earning his BSME from the University of Houston. He began his career as a Subsea Design Engineer at Dril-Quip, focusing on wellhead connectors, running tools and riser system design.

Michael spent much of his career as an Applications Engineer for Greene Tweed, where he developed HPHT electrical connectors. He also managed new-product-development manufacturing activities and the test lab.

In 2012, Michael joined CDI Products and managed the Electrical Connector group while supporting seal development and material performance initiatives.

Paul Balcom, Manufacturing Manager at Rampart Products

Paul Balcom

Manufacturing Manager

Paul joined Rampart Products in December 2024 as Manufacturing Manager.

He holds an AS in Mechanical Engineering / Mechanical Technology, with an emphasis in Manufacturing Processes, from Northeast Iowa Community College.

Paul brings more than 30 years of experience in manufacturing, production management, tooling and process engineering, much of it involving ruggedized electrical interconnects, electronic assemblies and related products.

Kseniya Kharitonova, Financial Controller and HR Manager at Rampart Products

Kevin Ewen

Quality Manager

Kevin joined Rampart in July 2023 as a Production Planner and Quality Engineer.

He graduated from The University of Texas at San Antonio before beginning his career as an MWD Field Engineer for Halliburton. He subsequently progressed from operations into quality and HSE.

Kevin’s technical experience includes MWD tools, LWD tools, mud motors and rotary steerable systems.

Andreas Walcher, Senior Design Engineer at Rampart Products

Andreas Walcher

Senior Design Engineer

Andreas, a Rampart partner, earned his BSME from the University of Applied Sciences in Constance, Germany and specializes in machinery design and automation.

Before moving to the United States in 2018, Andreas developed electrical circuit test systems, earning his first patent, as well as machinery for chocolate manufacturing.

Since joining Rampart, he has applied that engineering ingenuity to continually improve Rampart products and manufacturing processes while contributing to additional patented technology.
